Project Axshya - Making a Difference

The Global Fund Round 9 TB Project

Project Axshya (meaning 'TB-Free') adds a new dimension to TB control in India through community 'ownership' and civil society-led public health programming. The project is managed by the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The Union) through The Union South-East Asia Office (USEA), and implemented by USEA's nine core sub-recipient partners across India. It is a landmark project funded by The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (The Global Fund) as part of its larger Round 9 TB grant to India, with The Government of India, The Union and World Vision India as the three principal recipients. It is an expansive and ambitious advocacy, community and social mobilisation project, with the Union component covering 300 districts across 21 states in India, to reach about 570 million people.
